Coronavirus, what is to do with Australian mining?
Okay, by the time I am writing this article, I believe over 90% of people I know have gained a skill of how to spell "Corona" right, at least I did.
There had been a tough start for 2020, the out break of nCo19 ('n'ew coronavirus 2019) has already caused economic down turns through the world. Taking Autralian share market as an example, the stock price droped significantly claimed 6 month low just couple days ago, among them, suprisely mining shares are exceptions.
As today's topic, I am going to talk about a topic not many people are actually cares, that is what is Corona virus going to do with Autralian mining.
Lets face it, whenever there is a global event, in bad terms, gold price always goes up. By this meaning, gold producting companies have been benefited from this kind of trend through histroy. This is a factor, and maybe it is also a good time to invest some of the gold companies on the market.
Anyway, gold price arise means general economic arise in the mining industry thats no doubt of that. But what if the virus would break out in a mine site? what will be the result of that?
That would be no short but a simple disaster.
Can you image over 100 miners crowding in one room and sharing hevay breath from each other for over 7 days? I do, and thats not the most wonderful way to work with. That is very likely to create cross infections between workers and so on. I had similar experience back to flur seasons, everytime I walked off from that plane, my throat started to feelling a bit sore and later on, depends on how serious the flur was, more or less, I would catch the flur. This time is not an exception.
Now image again, a worker had been found as a corona virus carrier in a mine site. What would happen to this mine? We are not talking the future times, it is actually happening now.

Channel 7 reported a mine site worker returned from Indonesia was suspected carrying the virus but all too late. He had spend serval hours in the office, dinning hall and god know where in the city. As a result, the worker has been isolated and waiting for test result of the virus. I guess the lesson learned is can we find a way to provent workers to land on the mine site with suspected virus carrier?
The short answer is Yes! We can do a one by one body temp screen before borading and the FIFO worker's health concerns had actually caught attension from the government that they are planning to have a management plan finalised in next couple of days.
But it all too late. By the time, we would be infected, and the mine may face a factor that half of the employees maybe insolated and also the mine site production. I hate to say this, but everything is a bit too late and bit too concertative. Thats human nature, lets face it.
